Bukayo Saka’s season has hit a major roadblock after the Arsenal winger suffered a hamstring strain during the team’s 5-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The England international limped off in the 24th minute and was seen leaving Selhurst Park on crutches, sparking concerns about the severity of the injury.
According to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Saka is expected to be out for “many weeks,” dealing a significant blow to the team’s title aspirations.
This is not the first time Saka has struggled with hamstring issues, having previously suffered a similar injury while on England duty in October.
Arteta acknowledged the significance of Saka’s absence, stating that he’s a “massive player” for the team. However, the manager expressed optimism that Saka will return before the end of the season.
In the meantime, Arsenal will need to find alternative options to fill the void left by Saka’s injury.
Gabriel Martinelli, who stepped in for Saka during the Crystal Palace match, is likely to be one of the contenders for the role.
With Raheem Sterling also sidelined due to a knee injury, Arsenal’s attacking depth will be put to the test in the coming weeks.
