The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in the prize money for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The total prize money package has been increased by 32% to $10.4 million, with the winner taking home a whopping $3.5 million, a 75% increase from the previous amount.
This increase is a testament to CAF’s commitment to investing in African football and making it more appealing to fans, sponsors, and partners.
According to CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the CHAN is an important competition for developing and growing Africa-based football players and talented young players.
The 2024 CHAN is scheduled to take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from February 1 to 28, 2025, with 19 teams participating.
The increased prize money is expected to add an extra layer of excitement to the tournament.
