The CAF Disciplinary Board has charged the Libyan Football Federation with misconduct following incidents during the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Qualifiers fixture against Benin in Benghazi.
Libya hosted Benin Republic on 18 November 2024, in their final group stage match.
Players and officials of the West African team were subjected to intimation and attacks in a high profile case, just a month from the Al Abraq Airport ordeal of the Nigeria team.
The CAF Disciplinary Board found the Libyan Football Federation guilty of violating articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code for the behavior of its supporters and officials during and after the match.
The LFF was ordered to play its next two (2) official national team matches behind closed doors and the CAF Disciplinary Board imposed a fine of USD 50,000 on the Libyan Football Federation.
Meanwhile, The Beninese Football Federation was also charged for its non-collaboration with the CAF Disciplinary Board, in violation of article 45 of the CAF Disciplinary Code during their group D AFCON Qualifiers fixture against Rwanda.
Bénin were slapped with a $5,000 fine for violation of article 45 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
The DC Board also imposed a fine of USD 50,000, with USD 25,000 suspended for misconduct of its officials at the end of the match.
