Manchester City’s struggles in the UEFA Champions League continued as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Juventus on Wednesday evening.
The loss, which came courtesy of second-half goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie, leaves City in 22nd place in the new Champions League standings.
The match, played at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, saw City dominate possession but struggle to create clear-cut chances.
Juventus, on the other hand, were clinical in their finishing, with Vlahovic heading home a Kenan Yildiz cross in the 53rd minute, and McKennie volleying past Ederson in the 75th minute.
City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, was left frustrated by his team’s inability to capitalize on their dominance. “We played really, really good, we missed the last pass and action,” he said. “We concede a few, the transitions happen, but I am so proud of these players”.

The defeat leaves City facing an uphill battle to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.
They must now win their remaining two matches, against Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge, to have any hope of progressing.
