LaLiga has dealt a significant blow to Barcelona by refusing to register Dani Olmo, citing the club’s failure to meet the necessary financial criteria.
As a result, Olmo has been removed from Barcelona’s squad list, along with teammate Pau Víctor, effective January 2.
This development comes after Barcelona missed a deadline to submit the required documentation to LaLiga, which included agreements with two Middle Eastern investors and proof of advance payments for VIP box rights at the new Spotify Camp Nou.
The club had hoped to use these funds to facilitate Olmo’s registration.
Despite the setback, Barcelona remains confident that they can re-register Olmo and Víctor once they finalize the necessary financial transactions.
The club has already requested a new license from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for both players.
Olmo himself seems optimistic about his future at Barcelona, posting a New Year’s message on social media with two hearts in the club’s colors, accompanied by the caption “It’s 2025 time”.
Teammate Lamine Yamal responded with a supportive message, expressing his enthusiasm for Olmo’s potential stay at the club.
The situation has sparked speculation about Olmo’s future, with some reports suggesting that he could be free to leave the club and attract interest from top European teams.
However, for now, it seems that Olmo is focused on resolving the registration issue and continuing his career at Barcelona.
