Manchester City’s struggles continued as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park in the early kick-off on Saturday.
The loss marks City’s eighth defeat in their last 11 games in all competitions, leaving their title defense looking increasingly unlikely.
Aston Villa took the lead in the 16th minute through Jhon Duran’s simple finish, courtesy of a brilliant through-ball from Youri Tielemans. City pushed hard for an equalizer but were unable to break down Villa’s defense before the break.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 65th minute as Morgan Rogers drilled a low shot past Stefan Ortega.
Phil Foden pulled one back for City in the 90+2 minute, but it was too little, too late.
Pep Guardiola’s team has now won just one of their last 12 games, and the pressure is mounting on the manager.
City’s next match is against Everton on Boxing Day, and they’ll be looking to bounce back from this disappointing defeat.
